John Stewart: How are you?
Rebecca Gayheart: I'm doing good.

JS: Obviously you're doing good you got the damn show Wasteland.
RG: I've got the damn show Wasteland.

JS: You were breaking up with that dude.
RG: Yeah actually I was practicing tuff love with my ex-boyfriend Vandy.

JS: It was a gutsy thing you did just getting into the business. Didn't you move from a very small town?
RG: Yes I did, I moved to NY when I was 15 from Pinetop, Kentucky.

JS: Pinetop?
RG: Pinetop.

JS: It's a wonderful town, Pinetop. Do you know that little restaurant by the corner?
RG: Actually there's no restaurants in Pinetop

JS: Really, no restaurants? How big is this place?
RG: 800 people.

JS: 800 people - I've got more than that under my desk right now. Really, 800 people and no restaurants.
RG: Now I think we have a Dairy Queen, so we have a fast food place.

JS: Can't go wrong with DQ.
RG: No, not with the Blizzards

JS: Where did you go to eat at a restaurant?
RG: Well my mom cooked every meal, but when we would go we would go to Hazard, which was where I was born, about an hour away.

JS: You were born in a hospital named Hazard? They have a place to go when your sick named Hazard? Would Duke and Bo drive you to this hospital? What gave you the gumshin to high tail it to New York at 15.
RG: Lets just say there was a lot of incentives.

JS: Did you have a opportunity there or what?
RG: Well I think I was fearless when I was 15, now I would never do something that gutsy.

JS: And your folks were okay?
RG: Well they weren't then but they are now, they're very supportive now.

JS: Did they visit you there?
RG: Yes they came at the end of the summer, I went there for the summer and they said it was time to go home and I said no I'm not going home. I was rebellious for like 2 minutes, then it was all fine.

JS: Wasteland is on Thursday nights on ABC.
